Insolvency Monthly Briefing: January 2006 Simplification of Insolvency Rules 1986 Keeping up to date with changes in the Insolvency Rules is a real challange for all those involved in this area of the law. Since 1990 over 40 statutory instruments have been issued surrounding the various insolvency rules and regulations. Now the Insolvency Service has announced that it will carry out a full review of these statutory instruments and the operation of the Insolvency Rules 1986, with the intention of producing a simplified set of rules covering all aspects of insolvency procedure. These will be contained in 10 replacment statutory instruments which as currently planned would come into force in October 2007. This note has been prepared for general guidance only and should not be used as a substitute to obtaining legal advice.
